The Salamander Company is proud to announce ARTH (The Association for the Reduction of Tobacco-related Harm) as a major partner for AFL South Africa’s FootyWild Programs from 2008.   ARTH will utilise various FootyWild programs and properties as a vehicle to promote the harmful consequences of tobacco use and substance abuse to learners nationally.

FootyWild is widely recognized as a new mainstream sport for the new South Africa underpinned by a quality participation model extending from the introductory skills program through to primary, secondary, regional, provincial and national leagues/competitions.  Based on Australian Rules Football (AFL) within its 10 year lifespan in South Africa the sport is quickly developing into an exciting alternative to more mainstream sporting pursuits such as Soccer, Rugby and Cricket.

The Salamander Company has been appointed to promote the ARTH AFL Challenge at SuperSport Park in Johannesburg Saturday 2nd February 2008.

For the first time SuperSport Park will play host to the Carlton Blues and the Fremantle Dockers, two elite AFL teams who are set to clash in a fast paced, highly skilled and spectacular game.  The match will follow a curtain raiser between the Australian Indigenous Youth Team and South Africa’s U19 side.

The Salamander Company, in a joint venture with partner SK Media Investments, is working to deliver the successful South African television concept “Kaelo – Stories of Hope” to an international audience.

The Kaelo platforms were developed in South Africa by Kaelo Worldwide Media to provide unique and effective multimedia opportunities to create awareness of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives to a broad stakeholder audience.

Linked communication platforms include a successful 26-episode television series broadcast on SABC 2 – “Kaelo – Stories of Hope”; a book published with partner Pan Macmillan; a full colour national print insert in “The Star” newspaper; and radio features on 5 local language stations and the Kaelo website.

Plans for a July 08 launch of an Indian series are near completion and producer's are in advanced talks with Sub-Saharan, Australian and Brazillian stakeholders to produce similar concepts in respective regions early next year.
