The Salamander Company has been appointed to promote the ARTH AFL Challenge at SuperSport Park in Johannesburg Saturday 2nd February 2008.

For the first time SuperSport Park will play host to the Carlton Blues and the Fremantle Dockers, two elite AFL teams who are set to clash in a fast paced, highly skilled and spectacular game.  The match will follow a curtain raiser between the Australian Indigenous Youth Team and South Africa’s U19 side.


The Salamander Company, in a joint venture with SK Media Investments, is delighted to announce an exciting partnership with CNBC–TV 18 India to broadcast the successful ‘Kaelo-Stories of Hope’ from July 2008.

As the acknowledged leader for business news in India and the No. 1 channel for corporate decision makers, CNBC-TV18 and its four affiliate channels, currently reaches over 80 million households across India and will provide an exciting and effective base to promote the key premise of the ‘Kaelo-Stories of Hope Series’ - awareness of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives to a broad stakeholder audience.

“Footy” in South Africa

The Salamander Company has been appointed the Manager of Commercial Development and Partnerships for AFL SA

Australian Rules Football, known as “footy”, has rapidly expanded in South Africa in recent years and has been embraced by many communities and governments. 

Following the coordination of an in-depth research study, The Salamander Company will be responsible for procuring a range of partners and stakeholders to position and market “footy” in South Africa.



The Salamander Company will develop a Communications Strategy and subsequent Implementation Plan for the Australian Government's aid program to Africa.

The Communications Strategy will assist in improving the effectiveness, profile and support for Australia's aid program to Africa amongst broad stakeholder audiences throughout Africa and in Australia.


2008 Joburg Open

The Salamander Company has been given rights to procure sponsorship for the Joburg Open to be staged in January 2008. 

The Joburg Open is a European PGA Tour co-sanctioned tournament played at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington golf courses – two tried and tested arenas for championship golf.  With a prize purse of €1 million and broadcast to 300 million homes in 26 countries, the Joburg Open is an exciting addition to the Sunshine Tour summer schedule. 


PLU/Salamander Polo Partnership

The Salamander Company has partnered with well-known Polo Event Management company “PLU” (People Like Us) to bring more Polo events to the South African Calendar.

The Salamander Company will assist with all commercial matters including sponsorship, leveraging and positioning of events.

Kaelo International

The Salamander Company, in a joint venture with partner SK Media Investments, is working to deliver the successful South African television concept “Kaelo – Stories of Hope” to an international audience.

The Kaelo platforms were developed in South Africa by Kaelo Worldwide Media to provide unique and effective multimedia opportunities to create awareness of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives to a broad stakeholder audience.

Linked communication platforms include a successful 26-episode television series broadcast on SABC 2 – “Kaelo – Stories of Hope”; a book published with partner Pan Macmillan; a full colour national print insert in “The Star” newspaper; and radio features on 5 local language stations and the Kaelo website.

Plans for a July 08 launch of an Indian series are near completion and producer's are in advanced talks with Sub-Saharan, Australian and Brazillian stakeholders to produce similar concepts in respective regions early next year.


Wish Publications (Pty) Ltd

The Salamander Company has been appointed Sales and Marketing agents for Wish Publications.

Wish Publications currently have two quarterly magazines in circulation in South Africa - “POLO – LEISURE AND LIFESTYLE” and “GOLF – LEISURE AND LIFESTYLE”.  “BOAT – LEISURE AND LIFESTYLE” will be added to the stable in the 3rd Quarter of 2007. 

The Industry Association for Responsible Alcohol Use

The Salamander Company, Producer of the Be Your Best Rock Challenge, is pleased to announce that The Industry Association for Responsible Alcohol Use (The ARA) has committed to partner with the Be Your Best Foundation to deliver this exciting youth culture event over the next 3 years following the success of the inaugural tour.  The total value of the sponsorship will be 15 million rands.

The Industry Association, established by the major producers of alcohol beverages in South Africa promotes the responsible use of beverage alcohol, as part of a healthy lifestyle, among those who have already taken the decision to consume beverage alcohol.



Andrew Douglas, Managing Director of The Salamander Company, Producers of the ARA Be Your Best Rock Challenge, has been invited to present at the inaugural World Health Organisation Forum to be held in October this year.

Andrew has been asked to present on the subject of “Innovative Partnerships” and more specifically around his experiences in Africa and Australia with engaging stakeholders from across all tiers of government, a variety of industry sectors, main stream/speciality media and NGO’s to further important health agendas.
